The Wichita Kansas MOAA Chapter History:

The Wichita Kansas Chapter was formed 19 June, 1959 and received it's Charter of Affiliation from National MOAA ( Then TROA, The Retired Officers Association) on 25 August, 1959 making it one of only 83 local chapters affiliated with the National organization. The Wichita Chapter will have been in continous operation for 49 years as of 24 Aug 08. It changed it's name to Wichita Kansas Chapter, The Military Officers Association of America on 1 January 2003, to recognize the name change estiblished by the national association.

 

The Kansas Council of Chapters Created:

Formed in 1974 when the Wichita Chapter, Hutchinson Chapter, North Central Kansas (Now Flint Hills) Chapter (Chartered in 1967), Kaw Valley Chapter and Santa Fe Trail Chapter (both Chartered in 1971) met and organized into a council of TROA Chapters. On 19 October 1974 TROA National HQ issued a Charter of Affiliation to The Kansas Council of Chapters. Since 1974 other Kansas Chapters have joined; the Jayhawk Chapter (Chartered in 1990) and the Sunflower Chapter (Chartered in 1998).

 

 

National 2007 Communications Award Winner:

The Wichita Chapter was awarded the National 2007 Communications Award for their development and production of a comprehensive membership recruiting brochure to be utilized in the Chapter's membership development activities.

General Rich Keller (R) presents the MOAA Communication Award to MAJ Leroy Meyer, Wichita Chapter in recognition of their award winning Printed Recruiting Brochure.
