The Wichita Kansas Chapter was formed 19 June 1959 and received it’s Charter
of Affiliation from National MOAA ( Then TROA, The Retired Officers Association)
on 25 August, 1959. At this time the chapter was one of only 83 local chapters
affiliated with the National Organization. The Chapter has been in continuous
operation for 50 years as 24 August 09.
The Chapter Changed it’s name to the Wichita Kansas Chapter, The Military
Officers Association of America on 1 January 2003 to recognize the name change
established by the National MOAA association.

Kansas Council of Chapters Formed
with 5 Chapters in 1974
The Council was formed in 1974 when the Wichita Chapter, Hutchinson
Chapter,North Central Kansas Chapter (now the Flint Hills Chapter), Kaw Valley
Chapter and Santa Fe Trail Chapter met and organized into a Kansas Council of
TROA Chapters. On 19 October 1974 TROA National HQ issued a Chater of
Affiliation to The Kansas Council of Chapters. Since 1974 other Kansas Chapters
have joined; The Jayhawk Chapter Smoky Hill Chapter and the Sunflower
Chapter all joined later to make a total of 7 Council member Chapters currently
